BEFORE YOU TRAVEL

 POINTS TO NOTE

  • Be prepared for a humid weather as Singapore is by the ocean and is pretty hot and humid during the day!
  • Be prepared to walk a lot! Cab or MRT (Singapore Metro Service) or bus - whatever you choose, you need to walk a lot!
  • Singapore is a must visit place for families with kids ! Be prepared to enjoy a lot! ☺

MUST PACK
  • Portable Fans (especially for kids) - this can also be purchased in local markets in Singapore
  • Umbrellas - this can also be purchased in local markets in Singapore
  • Sunglasses
  • Caps
  • Water bottles - can be re-filled everywhere since drinking water is available almost everywhere FREE of cost !
  • Wet face tissues or napkins
  • Walking shoes or sneakers
  • Sunscreen

EASY ARRIVAL
  • Forex card
    • Purchase one and add sufficient balance before your travel since cards are accepted everywhere in Singapore even for 1SGD
    • Recharging this card might send an OTP to your local mobile number so better park higher amount so that you can withdraw after your travel.
  • Cash
    • Carry a few Singapore dollars if possible to recharge MRT passes (or)
    • There are exchange centres in most of the places so ensure to carry your local currency.
  • Singapore e-visa can be booked online or through travel agents 
    • Processing time - about a week
    • Validity - 2 months usually
  • Singapore Arrival Card
    • Needed for immigration
    • Must be filled online a day before your travel or on the day of travel
    • If you plan to visit Malaysia during your stay, it needs to be filled again when you are entering back in Singapore
  • e-Sim
    • Can be purchased online before your travel and can be picked up at the airport
      • Make a note of the terminal and outlet names where it can be picked up so that you can navigate easily.
    • Day-wise plans are available at reasonable rates
  • Singapore Arrival Pass / EZ-Link cards
    • Cabs can be quite expensive for local transport
    • MRT and Bus facility is excellent in Singapore
    • This is the cheapest mode of transport and fun to explore the routes
    • All the tourist attractions are connected by MRT and bus
    • You could purchase a basic plan and recharge it as needed - this needs SGD in cash
  • Purchase Attraction Tickets
    • There are many travel guides who offer discounted prices for all the tourist attractions
    • Tickets can also be purchased online on Klook (most favourite in Singapore) / iChangi attractions / Headout
    • Keep in mind the below - 
      • Few tickets are OPEN - can be purchased for any day / time
      • Some are FIXED - need to be purchased for a particular day / time slot
      • Choose wisely since most of them are non-refundable
      • Make sure the dates you choose (especially the fixed ones) are not holidays and the attractions are open for visit before your purchase the tickets
      • Avoid Sentosa Island attractions on weekends - it would be overcrowded!
  • GST Refund
    • If you purchase any goods from a store worth 100 SGD or more, you could claim the GST at the GST Refund counters at the airport.
